Liselotte Weiss
The German pianist was born on December 25, 1936 in Siegen (Westphalia), where she received her first piano lessons. After graduating from high school, she became a student of Claudio Arrau in New York. She established her international career with numerous concerts in various European countries and in the USA.
As a soloist with the Frankfurt Chamber Orchestra, she made a guest appearance at the 1963 Salzburg Festival. Her piano recitals at the ¡°Zwinger Konzerte¡± (Dresden) and in Finland also attracted a great deal of attention. She gave several concerts in Spain and took part in the summer festivals on the Costa del Sol.
She was particularly connected to the internationally renowned Busch Brothers circle in Germany, where she performed regularly. She has repeatedly given concerts at the Royal Festival Hall in London, where she also played with the Royal Philharmonica Orchestra under Anthony Hopkins. She was a frequent guest in New York and Washington with solo recitals.
The pianist has lived in Switzerland (Canton Zug) since the 1980s. She passed away on October 5, 2019.
